Additional Teaching Tools for Parishes

In addition to the one-year Family Formation subscription, we provide extra teaching resources to help parents teach the Faith to their children.

Tools to Enhance H0me Lessons:

  • Priest Paper Doll with Vestments                                             $5
Depicts a priest in paper doll form, together with two altar servers, and vestments to color according to the liturgical colors of the Church.  Help your families learn about the Church year as they connect the correct colors to the liturgical seasons by dressing Father for Mass each Sunday.
  • Our Sabbath Scripture Book                                                       $30 (20+ $25.50)
The Pauline family is a fictional family who shares their antics and tries to bring the Gospel readings to life each Sunday as they prepare for Mass.  After families read the Gospel together, Our Sabbath Scripture Book is the perfect accompaniment to their preparations for Mass.  A ready-to-color Liturgical Calendar is included.
  • Family Formation Prayer Booklet                                              $5 (20+  $4)
The Family Formation Prayer Booklet provides a treasury of Catholic prayers, broken down into grade levels as to when children should be familiar with each one.  The booklet also provides a handy grid for families to keep track of their progress as they memorize each prayer.  This is a great way to incorporate catholic family prayer into daily life.
  • Liturgical Calendars                                                                                                                  Colored and Laminated                                                                  $8.50 (20+ $7.50)          Ready-to-Color                                                                                    $3.25 (20+ $2)
Help families celebrate the life of the liturgical year with their own 11x17 liturgical calendar.  Each year, a new calendar is created, highlighting each Sunday’s Gospel reading and major Church feasts and seasons.  Whether you choose the already colored and laminated version for display or choose the uncolored paper version and have families color it themselves, this dynamic visual is sure to be a teaching tool families will reference often.  On the back, find prayers and other valuable information families will want to learn and discuss.
  • W.O.G. Logs                                                                                            $2.50 (20+ $2)             Reading Scripture daily is a very important way in which we come to know Jesus personally and to learn of God’s wonderful plan for our salvation.  W.O.G. (which stands for “Word of God”) Logs provide a fun, colorful, tangible way for children to keep track of their time spent with the Lord in this way.  Twelve brightly colored cards on a ring provide a year’s supply of monthly logs.

Tools to Assist Directors:

  • Family Formation Coordinator's Manual                               $100
This comprehensive manual will assist any director in successfully coordinating the Family Formation program in your parish.  Filled with logistical information on how to run the program, together with formation resources for speakers, catechists, and parents, any director will find this to be an invaluable tool.  An accompanying CD provides all the resources in the manual in a ready-to-print format to address the needs of your parish.
  • Catechist Training DVD's                                                            $120 (set of 8)
These DVD’s contain the adult formation presentation given to the parents during the monthly gathering at church.  This catechist resource also includes a walk through of the classroom lessons and additional instruction for making the teaching come alive for the students.

The adult formation piece of the DVD could be used in the following ways:

    • to train your live presenter for Catechist Training and the monthly parent gathering.  Live presenters are always the prefered option.
    • When a live presenter is not a possibility, have your catechists view the DVD, including the classroom lesson overview, during your catechist training session.
    • Again, in lieu of a live speaker, show the DVD to the parents during your monthly parent gathering.

Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most serious obligation to educate their offspring and therefore must be recognized as the primary and principal educators.

Hence, parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children.  Their role as educators is so decisive that scarcely anything can compensate for their failure in it.
