Family Formation is NOT Whole Community Catechesis!

Family Formation Whole Community Catechesis
Learning and teaching the Faith allows you to encounter Christ and therefore to grow in your faith. Learning the Faith based on the Sunday readings allows you to express what you think and feel about faith to others.
Catechetical material is presented to each age group differently so that the older you are, the greater the depth of presentation. Each group of people is learning the same thing on the same day, yet at an appropriate level of comprehension. Catechetical material is presented to all age groups in the parish at the same time. All age groups then reflect together.
Catechetical Material is entirely prepared for you for home use, requiring no research on your part. Parents educate their children in specific content of the faith on a weekly basis. There is no catechetical material taken home or gone over together as a family. Only reading the Sunday readings together is promoted.
Catechetical Material has been given the imprimatur and is backed up with quotes and citations from Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church and other Church documents and is faithful to the Magisterium. The catechetical presentation and analysis is done by volunteers in the parish and is subject to their personal opinions and the opinions of the community as it reflects together on the presentation.
The problem of weak content and ineffective CCD classes is solved through teaching strong content at age-appropriate levels both at the church (to parents and children) and at home by the parents to their children. The problem of weak content and ineffective CCD classes is solved only through communal presentation of content once a month.
Sacramental preparation for children follows the same effective format, age-appropriate material presented to parents and children at the church, and a take-home element taught by the parents at home. Sacramental preparation is accomplished through the old CCD method, where content can be weak and questionable and the parents are not involved in the teaching. presented to parents and children at the church, and a take-home element taught by the parents at home. and questionable and the parents are not involved in the teaching.
Parents provide a religious atmosphere by praying together, setting apart a section of their home as a prayer center, answering theological questions, promoting reading and memorization of Scripture, as well as teaching their children to pray Parents do not educate their children in specific content or memorization of their faith. In fact this is discouraged. Rather, religious atmosphere in the home is promoted through religious symbols and everyday activity. Frequent to this mentality is the unspoken motto, "Everything we do is religious."
Has been proven effective and has matured since 1991. It is still very new! Only time will tell how effective it is.
